Hello everyone, following t my recent review in th EP clinic,I am not to go back for 9 months all being well. The registrar I saw wants to keep me in the ablation list until he has discussed me with the consultant I usually see. I showed him my diary chart and he seemed quite p!Essex with my progress compared to this time last year, but raised concerns over some night episodes and suggested returning to flecanaide twice daily instead of as a PIP. My dilemma,my consultant and I talked about the effect flecanaide has On me daily....and agreed use as Pip,ought I get in touch with him?ideas pkease?

Also have been sent a letter by registrar organised a 7 day hokter, anyone had experiences with thus? Had a 24 your one once but not this long! 24 th July

Thank you

Apart from the faff or having to keep a diary and press the button when you feel anything a 7 day Holter should not be any more problem than a 24 hour one and should give much more information to the doctors. You should be given extra electrodes and shown how to put it on and off etc so you can shower. Ride Your Grannies Bike. (Red, yellow, green, black clockwise from top right. )

Last fall I wore one for a month, annoying but it proved to my cardiologist I was not having any a fib. I got his approval to go off the daily flecainide and back to pip, which Im still on. Happy to say I have not had any known a fib in over a year. I did get an apple watch that will alert me if I have any heart irregularities, which gives me peace. If my holter had shown any a fib, I would have stayed on daily flecainide. I was fortunate to tolerate it without side effects. Good luck with your test!

Perhaps you could take a very small dose of a beta blocker daily and then still take the Flec as a pill in the pocket. Just an idea. I guess what your 7 day monitor shows may well be the deciding factor. Are you feeling well these days?

Slimming world, and leaving a very stressful job! Thanks

I'm very impressed that you get regular reviews - I was diagnosed with PAF almost 2 years ago and have had to beg for referrals to see an EP so far without success (had to go privately to get flecainide to use as a PIP). Perhaps you aren't in the UK? The monitor sounds like it might be a good idea if you are not always aware of when you have an AF episode (and can check with a Kardia) like me. Good luck!

No I am in the UK,the reason I had a review is that Ive been on the waiting list for ablation so long..18 months..and also because in the meantime I have had improved symptoms so had an echocardiagram and now a Holter to see what's going on now. I had a kardia but stupidly lost it,think at the clinic !! Fool! Best wishes xx

Well, my heart was fine when I had an echocardiogram a few months after being diagnosed but I had to see an EP privately to get an appropriate drug as I was only referred to an ordinary NHS cardiologist (at my request) under "Atrial Fibrillation Services" and after two visits, when I saw an underling who failed to understand the problems I was having with the drugs, they signed me off without even letting me know! Good luck with finding the Kardia (or replacing it). No-one offered me a Holter but they did take a proper ECG at the surgery after I sent them a lot of ectopic readings so they are "referring" me again but it might be ages before I get an appointment and then not with an EP! Meanwhile, the ectopics have stopped and it's been almost a week since my last episode of AF which only last one and 3/4 hours so can't have done me much harm! Are you in London? Good luck with it all-

Did your blood pressure drop as your weight decreased?

Yes it's now hovering around 130/70 instead of 160-70/100-110....in fact may be seeing gp soon to see if I need to be on 100 mg losartan still!
