Well the panic is at an all time high now, read an article on a heart rhythm specialists page where he described AF as a slow poison and that it typically shortens an average lifespan by 5-10 years.....also that it will cause other heart problems as it progresses.......just when I thought I was coming to terms with this
Damn internet: Well the panic is at an... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Damn internet
Like you said. Damned internet. As far as I know there is little evidence to support the view that CONTROLLED AF shortens life. We all know that if allowed to run riot it can cause strokes and in extremis- heart failure but for most of us something else will probably kill us first.

Bob I really appreciate your posts because they always seem calm and rational in a sea of panic and anxiety that so many of us suffer with. Thanks
I'm like a swan, Calm and serene on top but peddling like fury underneath.
Well bob at least you are calm and serene somewhere! You sound like a gem......reassuring everyone. Thanks. Any thoughts on accompanying nauseous feeling? Anything that helps?
I have read few posts that have put me in extreme panic. This afib is enough to do that all by itself....then when you read a blogger or so called "expert" it can create havoc. I found my EP in Boston at one of leading hospitals in USA. I'mgoing with whatever he says and trying not to read the stuff that undermines what he and others that were trained in this. There are benefits and risks with all this treatment. The ablation had many risks that got me nuts thinking about them and putting me in a panic but the benefits caused me to go for it and I pray it works.
I am using AF as an incentive tool to lengthen my life by improving my lifestyle and diet all-round.
Lies and damn statistics. Statistics only help providers of health care to plan the needs of the population and explain probabilities. WE are individuals and we can choose how and where we see ourselves and our futures. If it was not for the exceptions there would be no bell curves and that would blow the statistician's minds.

The Internet is neutral. It's just there. Whatever we do with what we find there is up to us. You want to panic? Then panic. You want to move through your life with some degree of peacefulness, then learn how to do that.
In any case, it's much better to check out things you find than to take one bit of information - however true or false it may be - and make it your guiding mantra.
The internet is a global sounding board and often incorrect. Even Wikipedia is not governed for accuracy.
Take much of what you read with a pinch of salt ( not literally or the cardiologist will complain ha ha)
