Just wondered how careful I should be having had my first Ablation 2 days ago. Feeling ok in myself, apart from tiredness and discomfort in the puncture areas. Amazing bruising coming out too- why is this?

Nurse said to listen to my body ! Want this to be as successful as poss so any advice please?

If you are on anti-coagulant you will have colorful bruising. As you read through this site, you will notice a full range of recovery experiences. There are some specific precautions about hot tubs, lifting, etc.--check with your provider. Good luck to you!

My nurse told me do nothing for the first week and not a lot more for the second. It worked for me. My first two failed most likely because I typically went balls out after a few days. No lifting for a while either in case the groin leaks.

Hello linc2u, I had two huge bruises after my first ablation. I guess they lasted a few weeks or so. Just take it easy for as long as you can, at least for the first two weeks anyway.

After a week or so I did start to walk short distances but very slowly, but don't be fooled by thinking your fit and well too soon.

Good luck.

Hi, Just do what you feel you can. I had a chest infection shortly after my ablation which slowed me down, but also meant my doctor signed me off work for an extra couple of weeks. This was useful as I really could not sit up at my desk comfortably, or sit up to drive for long, until the bruising and soreness around the punctures in my groin started to recover after about 4 weeks.

But I had some extreme tachycardia about 3 months after the ablation. It really does take about 6 months for the heart to settle down. So don't be worried or disappointed if you get symptoms during this time. It does not necessarily mean the procedure has failed. I consider myself 95% cured and have not taken any heart meds since the ablation in 2009 - wonderful.

Hi, I'm now 4 weeks post cryoblation. I too felt great days after my cryoblation, so excited to be feeling so well that I started doing everything I used to do...Not a good idea, I now feel a sense of overwhelming tiredness. Sleeping loads and eating well. Hope it will pass soon. Also I'm finding it hard to stabilise my INR not sure if this is anything to do with it. So my message, take it really easy, eat well, afternoon rest. Remember you are healing on the inside. Take care.
