Bisoprolol is a beta blocker which slows your heart down hence you get out of breath. Sadly seems to be the only drug doctors think of at the beginning despite not being suitable for anybody with asthma.

Bob what are alternatives don't want to take digoxin either as that makes me ill

Diltiazem, a calcium channel blocker, seems to be an alternative. It agrees with me better than Bisoprolol - much less fatigue. However, I'm sure it isn't suitable for everyone - and all the usual caveats about my not being medically qualified in any way.

I'm afraid I've never really suffered from breathlessness - so I'm not much help! :)

I changed to nebovulol. Suits me but we are all different and have different reactions. Was useless on bisopralol.

Bottom line is you need to see a specialist in arrhythmias not a general doctor, even a normal cardiologist. Plumbers don't make very good electricians.

I too was very breathless on just 1.25 mg bisoprolol - changed to Diltiazem and a small dose of digoxin. Felt better and less out of breath when walking uphill.

Mation62 was your dose Digoxin .625 that's the one gave me but it still makes me breathless for few hours

Yes -62.5mcg of digoxin. Walking on the level is OK - but any slight incline and I can become out of breath or feel dizzy.

I dropped digoxin a couple of weeks ago. Spoke to my EP and GP beforehand and both were in agreement that I should stop it. I was concerned re the negative reports.

in reply toPeddling

What u on instead digoxin

the only advice I would give is try taking your dose later in the day I take mign about 16.00hrs as the fatigue and tiredness symptoms may be less but every body feels differently but it may be an option for you to try.

Think am very lucky am on a big dose of bisoprolol and don't have side effects. Am now on list for my first ablation, as AF still occurs regularly.
