PAF in transplant patients
Geoffrey, welcome to the forum. Frankly I have never heard of any connection as you suggest. AF is a mongrel condition which affects young and old alike, fit and unfit. It can be a genetic predisposition or sometimes acquired such as by endurance athletes and those who binge drink. Of the many members on this forum I am not aware of any other transplant patients.
We do , however, know that some surgery, especially heart surgery can trigger AF and several people feel that theirs arrived following surgery for other things. You do still need that genetic predisposition for that to happen.

Thanks bob you are right about mongrel condition .the transplant issue has arisen because the more of my transplant friends I ask the more I find have PAF.a few transplant consultants and renal nurses have said they found it fairly common in transplant patients.
This however could be anecdodal and not related in particular to transplantation .i am just starting to calm down about the condition after three years.it is a inconvenience that should not kill me, I hope !
