Changed treatment

I have been on Arythmol for 19 years and until recently with a stable heart rate. Then I went into persistant AF. I was prescribed Bisopropal and since then have become breathless on exertion. Just walking or climbing the stairs. My feet are swelling and I feel exhausted. Is it the medication 5mg mane 1.25mg nocte?

That's me on Bisoprolol also. Made me feel dreadful. My heart slowed down too much even on a very low dose. My EP said it wasn't the right drug for me and took me off it and back onto rhythm control drugs. But that was me, not you of course.

I was on Arythmol for a few years as well, worked well for me but affected my memory.

Propafanone (arythmol) is a rhythm control drug and worked fine for me until I had my ablations and didn't need it. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker and merely slows the hear rate during events whilst not doing anything for rhythm control. Most people get knocked out on beta blockers I understand. They should never be given to people with asthma . You don't mention anticoagulation such as warfarin. You should discuss this urgently with your doctor if you are not already anticoagulated due to the increased stroke risk with AF and I don't mean aspirin which is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot for AF .

Bob, as just replied to another post, I am on Bisoprolol and Asthmatic, albeit mild, I have asked on a few occasions if I need to be on a betablocker then why not prescribe me something else.

Still waiting for an answer.

Bisoprol is no good for me.

My cardiologist took me off it and two days later I felt like a human being again.

Doctors seem to dish it out like sweets.

It appears to be their answer to AF. GOOD LUCK.

I am on 10mg daily and have been lucky it seems. Have no side effects at all. But not sure it's working completely as have started having AF attacks periodically.
