Does anyone know if AF or ventricular etopics can lead to the more serious type of arythimias - I am thinking of the instance when you can have sudden cardiac arrest?
Sorry for the depressing thought....

I'm not saying never as you really don't know what may bring on a sudden cardiac arrest (SAD) but AF itself is seldom if ever fatal in that sense. Prolonged AF may result in cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) leading to heart failure but this is gradual and unlikely to be sudden.
Ventricluar ectopics are harmless as everybody gets them but seldom notice. It seems only we AF people who are far too focussed on our tickers notice these things.
Interesting topic. Just took my neighbor, who has Afib, to the ER this morning.. She complained of shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness and wheezing. Come to find out she has congestive heart failure. She told me that over the weekend she had a bad bout with Afib. Now , I don't know the condition of her heart but whether the Afib induced the heart failure or vice versa is food for thought. Be interested in what Bob has to say on this.
