Ablation no.2.

Hi, Had visit to EP today and it was decided I should have 2nd ablation.

Im disappointed, it was all going so well and I felt so good, but unfortunately

it was short lived and much as I tried to ignore it proved impossible.

The good news is that he says it wont be as long as the first one just a

matter of "tidying up loose ends" but I will have to have GA and camera as

before but hes going to use a childs one to try and avoid the horrendous

sore throat I had before. I was amazed he remembered although I never

mentioned it to him then or today I was impressed. I have a feeling it

wont be a long wait as I had to wait to have the "swab test", today and

last time when it was a 3 month waiting time I had to go to have it just

before. It really hasnt sunk in yet but I always knew it was a possibility

I may need another but I guess I thought I wouldnt need it, but there

you go ever the optimist. Sorry for the moan I know Im lucky really

things could be a lot worse.

Shirley.

Never mind I'm sure it will be worth it. One advantage of being an eternal pessimist is that it's not a disappointment when things like this happen! I wouldn't recommend it though it is much healthier to look on the good side of life. On the plus side it sounds as though you won't have to wait long. X

Hi Shirely, I was in your position back in September. I had my first ablation in July.... went back to work in August and 6 weeks later I had a horrendous episode of fast AF whilst mobilising a patient which meant I needed "another go" at the ablation for loose ends. I think they only found 2, but they also gave me an angiogram and I dipped into fast AF whilst on the table so I had a DC cardiversion under heavy sedation too.

I hope my 2nd time has solved things and I get a rough idea of what the likelihood of reoccurance is when I see my EP in Feb... (hopefully nil)

Wish you all the best.

it's good that you are having a GA and the camera can then help they with the work

Good luck- sounds as if it will a short one this time

Just keep thinking about how well you felt at the start, won't it be lovely to get back to that again! Hope you don't have to wait long. Chin up.

Take heart I've had four altogether, one for atrial flutter, three for fib. Suffered for over 15 years and although not completely A1 it has improved my quality of life! As to the toe it all depends who the operator is, the third one I had done no sore throat at all!! Good luck

Hello Shirley, I completely understand where you're coming from. I saw my EP yesterday who has also booked me in for my second Ablation. I had my first Ablation back in April and all went well until the end of December when I had lots of flutters that eventually turned into AF. Hopefully this second attempt will sort us both out, good luck.

Oh dear, I am seeing my EP on the 23rd January, I have had AF for 13 years now, last 3 years it has been getting worse so last April because I kept fainting and heart kept pausing I had a pacemaker fitted but I am now in AF permanently. None of the medication I am on seems to work so I am going to discuss ablation but reading everyone's experiences is putting me off. Mind you, I feel so poorly being breathless, unable to excercise, chest pains and feeling so tired all the times I then think I shall try anything.

Hope all goes well for all of you having to having more ablations.

Please dont be put off having an ablation, after the first one I felt terrific

back to my old self and my energy levels returned to normal and id forgotton

what normal felt like, It often takes two or three before it works but its

so well worth it, think positive. Thanks for all the positive comments from

everyone, Shirley.
