Does anyone know of any link between a hiatus hernia and af?

Don,t know if there is a link but when I was taken Ill in Oct 2012 I had tests done over the next few months and before they found the AF and irregular heart beat I was diagnosed with an Hiatus hernia and a Duerdenal ulcer.I,ve had a PM fitted and I,ve also had an ablation which seems to have been successful but I still suffer from the hernia and on medication only for the hernia (omeprozole) antacid which is just about controlling it but I might have to go and have an OP if it doesn,t improve.

It has been suggested a few years ago that there was a link (old Yahoo forum) but no medical proof at all. just opinions.

Hi! Interesting question. Like Bob said, I haven't heard of any scientific research to support a connection. But, I have AF and have also had surgery to repair a Hiatal hernia. However, I had AF long before the hernia developed. Best wishes! - KeL

Hi there, as you say an interesting post. I was diagnosed with Hiatus Hernia long before I developed AF. Have not heard of a link between the two, unless someone knows more?
