Does any one know if you can drink alcohol when taking any of the new anticoagulants?

New anticoagulants
I believe you can, because they don't work in the same way as warfarin (no INR to worry about). Mind you, I'm just looking at patient.co.uk where it says limit yourself to one or two drinks if you're on an anticoagulant (no mention of which). If you have a pack of tablets it should have paperwork with it that tells you what you can and can't eat/drink

Thanks Lis I do not drink as a rule but my daughter is expecting our first grandchild on Christmas day so I expect there will be a glass of bubbly on offer.Hope you have a lovely Christmas .
Bubbly sounds grand! All the best for you and your daughter for the birth - our youngest is expecting our fourth grandchild in May so my fingers are firmly crossed and am already polishing a bottle of bubbly in case all goes well. You have a lovely Christmas too!

I think ALL medical people want us not to drink so advice will always be limit intake. Be sensible would be my advice. You know the old saying, if you eat sensibly, don't drink. don't smoke, don't go out with loose women. don't do dangerous sports etc you won't live any longer but it will feel like it.
Thanks Bob good advice once again and thank you for all the help and advice you have given me and others over the last few months I do eat sensibly don't smoke no dangerous sports and we have covered the drinks as for the loose women well my husband would have something to say about that I should explain user name of souljacs is for Jacqueline but you can call me Jackie have a blessed Christmas and healthy new year Thank you x
Have a nice Christmas and a few glasses of wine with your dinner. Should do no harm at all
