I don't know Ray but when I stopped, my muscle spasms went in a few days, so guess it's a few days?

Probably best to ask on the "HEART UK - The Cholesterol Charity" forum which is in Health Unlocked.

Hi Ray

The drug is out of your system within a few days I think but the side effects could take considerably longer I'm afraid. My muscle pain (right arm and shoulder) took almost a year and the mild renal failure about six months, but it did all clear up.

Hi Ray

No I came off statins altogether! In view of the information now available on the net and the row between practioners and NICE I'm very glad I did.

PS. with kernow in your user name I assume you live in the best county outside England too?

Unfortunatly although born and bred, I was forced to emigrate " up country " to Somerset, and although now retired, can't really afford to go back. Am actually a native of Padstow, long before some cook called Rick something or other took it over!

Should'nt that be best country outside of England??

Yes, it does vary. Took me about 4 weeks to feel the benefit of coming off them.
