I am not sure what banner to put this. I have had tender fingertips for some time now. But more so on my right hand if I touch anything I am left with dents in the ends of my fingers. These dents can take some time to recover? Any Idea what is causing this?

Tender fingertips that leave dents?
Could be circulation problems and sounds like there is fluid retention there. I suggest you see your GP when the holiday is over as it can't be very nice for you. are your hands swollen at all?
Bob
I was given water tablets some time back, I had no improvement in anything except I felt like I had been kicked in the kidneys. The left hand has swollen a little in the past week but my right hand is the worse! If I lightly push my index finger to my thumb tip it leaves a dent in both. It also seem to get worse as the day goes on?
How long do the "dents" last for? Do they cause you any pain? I get dents if I press my fingers against anything like the edge of a table. I put it down to ageing and the skin being less elastic! They go when I do any other activity like typing on the keyboard.
They are there for well over a minute. They stay the most on my thumbs? If I run my finger over my thumb it leaves a groove?
I agree with Bob, it could be fluid retention, whatever your age your fingers should not be that swollen, si I would get it checked out.

Looks like a visit to my blinkered GP's Thanks for your comments I will let you know what they come up with
I have been told from another sufferer that critical illness neuropathy could be the reason.
I looked it up I had most of the problems it mentions in the report I read. I was going into MOF and was on a oscillator for 12 days and ventilator for a further 18 days. It took a very long time to get my hands to work properly.

It fits that the muscle loss would cause the dents and the pain could be the lack of padding making my nerve endings more sensitive?
