Had a cardioversion and today it's return to AF again. Can anyone help me with positive news as it's really knocked me
I've lived with AF now for just over ... - Atrial Fibrillati...
I've lived with AF now for just over 12 months. In October 2013 I went under an ablation 5 weeks later my AF returned. On the 24th January I
Brckie I'm sorry to tell you that AF is a long journey and seldom any short-cuts but the good news is that you are in the system. I had my first ablation in 2006 and my third in 2008 since when I have been free of AF. You have only just started your journey but at least you have a map now! Your EP will discuss the way forward I am sure so don't jump ship and give up now (mixed metaphors). Don't be down hearted as most of us have been there at some stage . AF may be in your life but don't let it rule your life.

Don't be despondent. Before I underwent an atrial ablation in 2007, my EP said that the current success rate was about 75%, but that for the 25% it simply meant that it should be repeated. In the event, I was one of the 25%, like you, but I went through a second procedure that worked perfectly, and since 2008 my heartbeat has been regular. Whilst the percentages may have changed since then, the principle is the same, and next time there is again a 75% chance of success. You WILL get there, and it really is worth it. Don't give up now!
Thank you to you both for your replies. When I go to see the consultant should I ask him for another ablation as I feel that procedure worked more than the cardioversion x
In a word, yes! Good luck x
