You're in with a chance, bigE. The next ablation might well do the trick. It often does. It did with me, albeit for two years.

You can also have a 3rd and a 4th and a 5th.....if necessary

Hi Big E, A second (or third) ablation will;lprobably work. I had three between 2005 and 2008 and AF free since.

Good to know Bob. I'm having my third in a few weeks / months. I was hoping for the best...

Hey BigE

Love it - maybe we r all stuffed.

I had my first ablation about 6 weeks ago and was told it probably wouldn't be a success and would need 2 more - but so far all good and in SR. You lasted 6 months - they told me if I reverted to goand get belted ( cardioverted ) - gave me a letter to take to ER. Luckily I haven't needed it.

But no ur not stuffed.

Hi bigE

I'm waiting for my first ablation some time in March hopefully, but the EP has already indicated that it is not always 100% fixed after one go and may take more. I've seen posts on here of people having 4 or more before it's fixed, but it's a case of gradually isolating all the "leakage paths". Much better to go slowly I think! Remember the old builders adage "measure twice, cut once!"

best regards, Mallet-head

Hiya BigE - I had my second ablation on December 5th as the first one was unsuccessful about a year before. I say unsuccessful but there was improvement so not all bad news for me :-). I have been getting steadily better after this second one and am feeling optimistic - I hope your second one has the same affect on you. Good luck x

Hi Big E

You should not worry. Many people have to have 2 or more ablations. I went for 8 months before having an episode after my first ablation. I had my second ablation in August of last year and have been episode free since. I feel great now and I do not worry about possible episodes as what will be will be. I feel the treatment has worked. You are not alone and please don't worry it is very common to have more than one ablation.

Good luck

Ive had coxmaze procedure to surgically ablate so still options open to you. Will know full effect in 6-12 months but 6 weeks post procedure not in permanent AF still tachycardic but hopefully soon be sorted. Interestingly been on beta blockers for 4 and half yrs GP said palpitaions were stress related. Found out after 2 yrs it was AF!!! Not had any beta blockers for 7 weeks and guess what i do not have hypertension advise (hindsight ) Palpitaions ask for investigations.
