Has anyone with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation had an implantable loop monitor fitted to record an AF session?

I know people with them but just to catch an AF episode is a little extreme I feel. Surely a seven day Holter monitor would be a less invasive way?

I agree Bob but my consultant wants to capture an AF episode and the seven day Holter monitor didn't catch one

I'm not surprised Patricia. I haven't had a significant episode since September! Mind you the last one did last 6 days!

My daughter had an implanted loop recorder to try and catch what was thought to be AF

My doctor recommended it to me two years back since tens holter monitor reports through few years didn't catch it , and I was ready to do anything just to know what is going on

But two years back attack lasted till cardioversion and I got diagnosed at last by atrial flutter

When it got more frequent it can be recorded through a week monitor , try more holter monitor you may get lucky to record your concern symptoms

Regards

I had a monitor implanted after my ablation. It was put in when I was asleep so didn't feel anything. Don't know it's there to be honest and I will have it for three years. I send in recording via phone once a month and receive an email to let me know everything is ok or not. So far (10 months) everything is good. They are very accurate so that maybe why your doctor is requesting one. Does seem a little extreme at this stage though.

I wore a heart monitor for 30 days and it picked up several episodes

What kind of a heart monitor was it Cherjane?

External holter monitor. You have to wear 7 days a week 24 hours a day. It was not fun but it did pick up my irregularities. I realized I had to take my condition a little more serious.

I am having a Holter monitor on 24 th December. Is it a permanent 7 day fixture or can you remove it to shower? Have not been given any details just been told to turn up at Cardiology. Hope I have an AF episode during this time, but I am not holding my breath.

Did not know there was an implantable loop treatment. Good luck.

Yes, Holter monitors can be removed to shower. I had a 7 day Holter monitor but unfortunately I didn't have an AF episode for it to record. This is probably the only time you would wish for an episode! Good luck!

Just had a 48hr one and they gave me spare sticky pads to put on after bath/shower. Just unclip the leads before washing, remove pads and then put on fresh pads and hook yourself back up after. I was told I could adjust the location of the pads slightly if my skin was irritated - which it was massively. Fairly sure this one captured some missed beats and fibrillation, but sods law it wasn't anywhere nearly as bad as its been over the last couple of months.

Sorry, that was a reply to Ang3lc4ts question about 7 day montor - not the original question about implanatable loop.
