Can anyone tell me whether Warfarin makes you feel cold, especially the hands and fingers? Many thanks Dot
Hi Dot - I will be interested to know the answer to this. I have often suffered with cold hands and feet in the winter (pre-Warfarin days), but whilst playing golf yesterday I noticed that my hands were really cold, and I have been taking Warfarin for a short while. Going to feel a bit of a Nelly wearing woolly gloves in the middle of summer!
Cold hands are ideal for making pastry!!

My hands get very cold when it is cold but once warmed up my fingers are hot most of the time nad my palms are red (no good for pastry or putty)

Don't worry about the Nellie Feeling - I've given up golf but now play bowls and you should see what I wear!!
It seems cold hands are a common problem for many people on Warfarin so we're not alone

Strange I have never noticed any change frankly and I've been on it for over 6 years. Bisopropol will do it for sure I understand. Warfarin has been known to cause brittle nails and some people experience hair loss but cold extremities is not one I know.

While I was on Warfarin my hands and feet were cold too[ on Rivaroxaban now] .... a friend of mine has been on Warfarin for over 20 years and has suffered with cold feet and freezing fingers !
Just wear what you need to keep warm.....you'll start a new trend !

Happily my hands are warm as normal on the Pradaxa. My patients would be VERY unhappy if I had cold hands! HaHa!
can you tell me what Pradaxa is can it replace Warfarin?
it's one the new anti coagulant drugs and yes it can replace Warfarin.....as can Rivaroxaban...there is a newer one but name has slipped my mind ! Ask your doctor or cardio for all the info. The fors are no more INR tests and you eat what you want....but the antis well there are side effects for some folk also it doesn't have a reversal agent but its life in your body is much shorter than Warfarin, and there are drugs they can use should it ever be necessary.
I took in the info after I had IBS with Warfarin and decided to try it and so far no problems; you have to have kidney function test after 1 month then providing that's ok...you have one every 3-4 months.
just had my first test ...thumbs up!

Could you kindly tell me whether Warfarin, can cause stomach upset, and pain? I read that you had previously had to watch what you ate while on Warfarin, I can no longer eat some of my favourite foods, could it be the Warfarin????
it's more a car of continuing to eat all the stuff [ apart from cranberrys /cran juice which are definite no ] while on Warfarin; it's ok to eat lettuce/ green leafy veg providing you do it regularly as your INR will then be adjusted. If you eat green veg but not regularly your INR will fluctuate. Check out on afa main site.

My hands are blue and one middle finger goes "dead". Late June and wearing warm hand knitted mittens. My nails are also brittle.
Would like to be prescribed Pradaxa or similar but my GP tells me my kidney function is not good enough. That was a complete surprise to me.
Any comments.

I am a golfer and my hands get cold.I wear two golfing gloves.
Don't play to much in the winter now.
I think it's the tablets also my blood circulation which make my hands cold.
But the exercise is the main reason to carry on.
I am fitter than some people who have a normal heartbeat.

You may have Reynaud's Disease. Check it out. I have had the same problem for many years before I started Warfarin.
As warfarin thins the blood then it will c ause people to be cold, my hands and feet are cold and sometimes I am cold all over. I also suffer from numbness and pins and needles as well, but still do not know if this is the warfarin.
I'm on warfarin since 13 years back , I never had cold hands and feet till I started sotalol.
I agree with Bob that beta blocker may cause that and not the warfarin , where I blame warfarin for hair loose and dry nails and hair , and heavy period ( for female )
What about fatigue ?Is it related to warfarin or beta blocker , irrythemia , or just aging
