sandy8,

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is. About your meds? or Why it happened from the cold?

Your meds are a combination of 2 approaches to controlling AF.

Bisoprolol is a rate control med. Beta Blockers slow down the heart rate so that during an attack the heart will not race as high. The good part is that they DO slow the heart down during an attack which help to make it more tolerable. The bad part is that they also slow the heart down when not having an attack which can leave you tired and lacking energy.

Digoxin is an extract from the foxglove plant which is part of the Rhythm Control method. It has the effect of keeping the heart in rhythm which can stop the AF attack from happening.

I noticed that you did not list an anticoagulant. Stroke is the #1 concern of those with AF caused by blood clots developing in the atria during an attack.

Take a look at the CHA2DS2-VASc score sheet. Here is a link to the AFA calculator.

An anticoagulant is the method of reducing stroke risk in AF patients.

About the cold... When it comes to AF, everybody is unique. What causes (triggers) it for you may be completely different for me. There are a few things that they have linked to being known triggers but even those are not the same for everyone. I have read many posts where AF patients have stated that it was triggered by either very hot or cold situations. Medical science has defined the mechanics of how AF happens but are still very confused as to why (what starts it).

Again, Welcome to the forum. We are a group of people who suffer from AF, many of us for a lot of years and try to help those newly diagnosed to understand this condition and it's treatments. Ask all of the questions you want... Someone will gladly jump in and try to answer it. We have all been exactly where you are now and understand the feelings and emotions that go along with it.
