Was told if my prostate cancer hadn't metastasized, a lot could be done or cured. Otherwise, he had nothing that he could do. Two weeks later; Dr. Head told me that it is mediatizing. So we started to leave; he stopped us to say that there are drugs to slow the progression down. That my portion would be $25,000 a month. Not affordable. Then he told us that his research program would cover everything. Strong chance that I'd get a placebo. Would have to travel at least 120 miles round trip three times a week.

After reading the manufacturer's literature front to back I saw where they would cover all of the co-pay. Left that doctor. Found a fantastic doctor.

Moved to Florida; was blessed to find a great doctor that was hired by my Tennessee doctor but he turned the position down to move to Florida.

It’s amazing how little some doctors know about co-pay assistance programs. Good move on your part. Best of luck.

What drug? Curious because I’ve been very lucky with my Orgovyx and Abiraterone costs, so far.

Is this doctor a urologist? If so, it’s time to find a medical oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer. Lots treatments are available.

WTF You've come to the right place for info and camaraderie. Don't let some of those asshole doctors pull your chain. If need be ask here if anyone has had experience with any doctors that will be treating you. Take care and you're now on the right track.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Sounds like he was trying to get you into his trial at the cost of your better options which he didn’t want to tell you about.

I believe that they get a large amount of money for patients.

My oncologist had told me no to Pet Scan at 6 months ...my treatment is Xtandi and Eligard every 3 months. My follow up with Urologist said you need a scan done as you should have had radiation by now. So confused Urologist v Oncologist. Should I proceed with Petscan for peace of mind due to my symptoms of upper and lower back pain along with shoulder and knee pain? My last PSa was 1.22 and metastasis to low back and hips and one lymph node to chest...very confused. The radiologist consultation told me if oncologist is not recommending radiation that is because meds are working...my original Petscan 12/7/23 and PSA was 166.
