Some good reading on glucose related to various cancers. As we know, solid tumors consume around 200 times more glucose than normal cells. I have been searching for 'off label' adjuncts to my triple therapy and ran across this article. If our medicines contained a glucose 'easter egg' to stop cancer cell growth, maybe we could all recover.

1. MDPI is not a top quality, tier 1 scientific paper publishing house. (Which isn't to say that there are not some times yes whole papers published there.)

2. The paper is a review paper that cannot be a source of any responsible prostate cancer adjunct selection decision making. Okay, metformin is mentioned and I take metformin specifically as an adjunct. But I could never take it based on the grab bag review here.

All cells--healthy and malignant--are fed glucose via glucose transporters. It's just that the tumorous ones have GLUT's that are "working up a frenzy," pulling in huge amounts of the stuff into their cells to support high growth and proliferation. New or better medical strategies are now being researched to target these "crazy GLUTs" and effectively reduce the levels of glucose reaching cancer cells.
