My partner who was diagnosed with stage 4 A prostate cancer just tested positive for the PALB2 gene. Will this decrease his chances of long term survival or recurrance after the standard care prescribed by the drs? Or treatment? TIA

No difference if localized and he gets the proper loco-regional therapy.

Thank you this is good news as the articles I am reading say survival rate is lower and recurring cancer after radiation is more likely with patients with the gene. But not too many studies out there. Btw the drs suggested the exact therapy you said.

Population genomic statistics provide no help in dealing with localized cancer.

Sherry, you should know that T_A is a Statistician and an Author and probably knows more about Pca than most doctors, however he only wears a white coat when he goes bowling.

BTW we both went to different schools together.
