A warrior’s journey, QOL, wisdom?

From initial diagnosis through every lab test, imaging study, and treatment decision, this journey took enormous physical, emotional and spiritual fortitude. No matter the course or the length, hold your loved ones close, continue to plan adventures, and never give up hope.

My husband used to say “you are born and you die” but I would add “ and in between you live!”

I made the last update to his profile today:

“Mar 27 2024: brainstem bleed from tumor, platelets 24, +DIC. The end of a warrior’s journey in this world, but the beginning of eternal life in the next”

I want to thank all the courageous warriors out there that posted questions, answers, helpful tips, and yes, even some distractions. This forum has been a wealth of information and support and has often reminded me that my husband and I were not alone.

Thank you and many blessing and prayers to each and every one of you fellow warriors on your own personal journeys. 🙏🏻.

Our thoughts are with you and your husband. Thank you for your caring words for all us warriors.

We will keep on fighting AND LIVING!

My late brother Barry (liver cancer) said to me “John don’t worry about me I lived the best and most fun life”. He still lives on in my fun memories.

I am also very thankful for this site and all that it does.

Thank you for sharing a little of your loss with us, but also for sharing your positive outlook. Blessings on you and your family as your beloved moves on to his next journey.

When the whirlwind of details to arrange (crazy how much there is to do while you just want to grieve and reflect), make sure to be extra kind and generous with yourself and your loved ones. You deserve a respite.

Indeed. It’s very hard to remember to take that time when “having a full plate” was the norm. Thank you for reminding me. 🥰

Thank you. I think initially I was blinded by the pain caused by his absence (getting better). I was paralyzed with needing to call family and friends but that process provided the opportunity to share memories and stories with family and friends which has actually helped.

The pain can seem unrelenting. I'm glad you've had friends and family to ease it a bit. That's what they're there for, in our time of need. Sending a big hug from me to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I thank you for sharing your wisdom. It is so easy to let the disease draw us into a dark place. You were a great blessing to your husband by reminding him to enjoy the life he has and to experience it to the fullest. God bless.

Prayers and heartfelt condolences for you and your family. Now is the time for you to rest and heal in your own time frame. I feel I'll be in a similar situation within the next few weeks as I see his condition deteriorating in so many ways. It is a torturous journey, with constant setbacks, decisions and frustrations, all the while praying for a glimmer of hope. Now what's left is prayers for a peaceful end, grateful for the time and experiences we've shared.

Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry that your husband’s earthly journey with you has ended. I was glad to hear you encouraged him to live. As wives we get the privilege to love and be loved even in the midst of our battles with this horrible disease. I hope you have many fond memories of the “life” you shared. I pray that you will receive all the love, peace and comfort you need in this season.🙏🏼❤️

Thank you for sharing Maxwife. I am a warrior's wife as well. Which makes us warriors as well! Our journey began in 2017. We have the same philosophy. Make those memories and live life as you are able. This life on earth is so short. Take care. Supportive thoughts to you and yours.
