Exgeva
Only for men who are castration resistant. You ought to get a DXA scan to see if you are osteoporotic first.
Hi, T_A - I hadn't heard yet that Xgeva is only for CR men - what is the reasoning for that? Thanks - Susan
Zometa, which is similar, did not decrease the number of skeletal-related events (SREs) like fractures and spinal compression when tried in men who were hormone sensitive.

Since the worst side effects increase with time taking the medication, it is a good idea to not take it until really needed. Of course, men who are osteoporotic (on a DXA scan) should have a bone strengthening agent no matter if they are still hormone sensitive.

More expansive than previous coverage !!!!!
Hello. The urologist started me on Exgeva from the beginning. Monthly injections. When I went to my MO, I he put me on one every three months. I have extensive bone Mets, I cracked some ribs about the time of dx. (See profile). So far I pay for the office visit and the Pharma. Company pays for the med. Yes it is pricey. I am not on Medicare yet. I am not a Dr just my experience. My PSA has been undetectable for 2 years. Dx 3 years ago. I am thankful for every day as a gift from God. Keith--aka JD-guy
This includes a good discussion............
Have never been offered it in the UK on NHS.
