Hyperthermia: I do not talk often about this but it’s a good approach

well, at 46 C degrees human cells die…I think that the best part of such treatment would be that being non invasive and “mechanical” it could be repeated without losing efficacy

Hyper--an increase in temperature. Cryo --icy cold.

Dr. Gary Onik uses cryotherapy.

Read everything you can about hyperthermia. I would not recommend it based on what I read going back nearly ten years.

Someone on another site traveled to Germany for hyperthermia treatment. He stayed in contact with other men who had the treatment. Only one of maybe, six, at that time, didn't have a biochemical recurrence.

The treatment required one to stay at the facility for a month. A metal rod was inserted into the men's penises to where the prostate was and then heated by the magnets for maybe an hour. I think that was the routine--which could have been modified by now. In the month that the men were at the facility they were taught about diet and organic foods, exercise, mediation to reduce stress -- activities like that. Meals were specially prepared and served at a nearby restaurant for the patients. Now---this is important--when the men first arrived, they were given a Lupron shot.

That is the info I garnered about one of these, as they are called, hyperthermia clinics. You will pay your own way too.

Caveat emptor!

Completely different technology. We are talking about magnetic nanoparticles that get attached to the cancer cells after they have been injected intravenously. Then with an external magnetic field they are taken to 43-46 degrees Celsius and the cancer cells die.

Hey John!

Hyper will melt the "two scoops". Cryo will keep those scoops frosty indeed!

Did you try any new flavors over the summer?

You read the conclusion in the NIH publication didn't you?

The last two sentences of the conclusion below--in bold and italic font.

"Finally, we demonstrate for the first time that systemically delivered magnetic hyperthermia is a feasible treatment modality for prostate cancer and that it can efficiently inhibit tumor growth without causing any obvious toxicity in mice."

It has been found to "inhibit" tumor growth, not cure cancer.

"Further studies are planned to confirm the long-term safety of the developed nanoclusters and investigate the therapeutic outcomes of the proposed magnetic hyperthermia for prostate cancer treatment in combination with other anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy."

There is optimism about it's use as an --adjuvant therapy to bolster other treatments and therapies. I believe it was this that I read about several years ago when it was new.

It will be interesting to see how effective it is in humans.

Hyperthermia is nothing new, that technology is new! As a gun was not a new idea in 1790, but probably I would prefer a modern sniper rifle…well it would be less likely to explode in my face at least 😜

Unless I was a collector, then I’d take the old one, but that’s a different story!

The nano particle approach is new. That is what I was referring to.
