Effects of Omega 3 (let me remind you that walnuts have more omega 3 than fish) on cancer. Still preclinical.

Thanks!! It would be nice to have also studies that test nutrients and supplements before and after you actually get cancer. There are some that say fo example that creatine is great before you get any metastasis, but could be dangerous and make them spread faster once you have them (of course nothing conclusive, but enough to stop me to even consider creatine). We need to evolve our diets together with the cancer stage I am afraid.

I took creatine for two years with no issues. My creatinine level went from below normal to normal. I have several bone Mets.

Everyone is different. Maybe soon I will feel like experimenting and taking it as well, at least for more powerful training sessions. Let's wait to finish the chemo part and have another pet psa scan.

I give up!

So based on the conclusion on the second link that Tall sent I should eat more trans fatty acids to decrease the risk of fatal prostrate cancer and eat less walnuts and fish to decrease the risk. I am going to the Golden Arches this morning for breakfast.

🤔😂

😀 I think the point is more like: eat some nuts without concern, variety, don't demonize anything (eat those pancakes once in a while, maybe use erythriol instead of sugar), don't waste your money and brain on useless (or even harmful) supplements unless there is a clear advantage (or you have a clear lack of some nutrient).

We must consider that there are other diseases apart from prostate cancer that we do not want to get (especially if we already have to deal with this beast) so I think that sometimes it's worth to take the risk of "unknown effect on PC but great effect on heart". But most of the time it's not worth (in my opinion, of course).

What drives me crazy is that there is always the damn difference between the two conditions: "trying to prevent cancer" vs "trying to survive cancer"...and I can tell you that many times you need to eat different things, dammit! Let's hope that the more research on food, the better we will be able to explain things.

What I have posted is valid (but not clinically tested yet) for a subclass of prostate cancer patients if you have read it, but there are other observational studies supporting it for basically the most common cancers: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

and then there is microbiome, which is important for us as well: mdpi.com/2076-3921/12/5/982

Overall, when it comes to spending my time getting info, I prefer to focus on treatments the most, even if dietary suggestions can be interesting as well! 😀😀

Just to drive ourselves crazy, with sweeteners this time:

So, I can still have my Stevia with coffee, but I need to switch from Zytiga to Xtandi !!

Also my Stevia has NO fillers like erythiol.

Stevia is always the best. Can’t stand the taste but it’s the best choice.

in reply to Maxone73

Ok, were now going to sound like a food forum!!!!

Mix Stevia 1 part with 1 part Monk Fruit.

Stevia is a little bitter, Monk Fruit is a little fruity. The 2 work really well together.

1/64 teaspoon each in my coffee is enough. (No filler)

Will try! Stevia I can find easily, but buying monk fruit in Italy without having to sell a kidney seems impossible! 😀

Have you tried Lucuma powder?

No, is it a sweetener?

Yes, a fruit made into powder.

Your on the right track, keep eating a variety of nuts, especially walnuts to prevent pca. Once it has developed n possibly metastasized then go into the seeds of peaches, prunes n cherries as they are even more powerful w amygdalin n naturally occurring cyanide that act as a chemotherapy wo all the side effects. There are so many ways to kill PCa but the key is to get early n often. Read up on it as much as you can n figure out for yourself what works n doesn’t…

Less than 3 last week, but I am metastatic and under triplet therapy

I was as well but got off the adt after 7 Mo and my psa has continually dropped dropped from 1.93 to 1.29 after 9 months… MO is ecstatic n encouraging me to continue protocol, wanting me to do psmA in Jan, one year after first one to confirm results…

It's good to see the reference to walnuts showing up. I've been eating a handful everyday for a year, specifically for the "urolithins", which are polyphenols. Urolithins are apparently a manufactured from "ellagitannins", supplied by walnuts, by bacteria in the gut.

Didn't seem to be much of a downside and there is the possibility of an upside. The upside is claimed to be action against PCa. The quality of research articles is questionable though (mostly in MDPI etc.)

Handful of walnuts and almonds!!

Using a pestle/mortar I make fantastic nut butters using walnuts + almonds + cashews + pecans + Hazelnuts then moisten with a liquid of choice.

Finishing up some yummy nut butter made with *Mor Ladron Gower Honey Spiced Rum*

Today's spread is with *Ironroot 133.7 Proof Straight Corn Whiskey* and then is some JW King George V.

Straight up, on a cracker or a slice of Parmigiana Reggiano = bliss 😋

Thanks for the reminder about nuts and sugar. Christmas baking is coming up and I need to order some. Every holiday I bake for 15 days and ship my cookies to friends. Each year I do a unique/different cookie. This year it is going to be an Italian cookie made with Hazelnuts from Turkey.

PS Only real butter and sugar in this holiday baking.

Including the shells or can we still use them for cat litter? Poor cat we named her "Roughitout" and I think she hates us....
