Can stage 3 or 4 be treated with radiation? If yes, anything I need to watch out for before radiation? And its side effects? I don’t have any bone pain: can I be treated with Radium227?

Can stage 3 or 4 be treated with radiation?
Please fill out your profile. I don't think you are using the staging correctly (Stage III means it is still localized in the prostate but extended through it, Stage IV covers a number of different situations) , and it is not clear what you are asking about - radiation to what?
Thanks for clearing up the definition. I am advanced stage.
That means nothing. I want to help you, but you have to tell me more: Do you have metastases ? How many and where are they? Have you had any treatments? Prostatectomy? Prostate radiation? What hormonal therapies? Chemo? Are you castration resistant?
I am waiting for my CT SCAN and bone scan which I recently did reports. I have an appointment with the urologist tomorrow. Will get back to you soon. Thanks and sorry for the inadequate information.
I just got my reports for CT Scan and Bone Scan, and they turned out good. For the CT Scan, no hot spot except a benign 0.3cm right lung nodule. As for the bone scan, one hot spot is found on the right pelvic area. Can I do radiation in the right pelvic area. Thanks.
That is called oligometastatic. Your prostate can be irradiated. Ask your radiation oncologist if is safe to irradiate your pelvic bone metastasis too.
Hi Tall Allen, Please check out my updated profile. No prostatectomy. I am still treated with Lupron. Xtandi is no longer working . I haven’t done radiation, Radium 227and Docetaxel. Which do you think it is suitable for me — radiation, Radium 227 or Docetaxel? Thanks.
I had Stage III PCa. It was a T4, N0, M0 tumor that had gone into my urethra but was still "locally advanced." Stage IV means "distant metastases." To answer your question, my Stage III cancer was treated with radiation (EBRT + IMRT) and ADT in 2009. PCa treatment has advanced and changed a lot since then so I advise having a discussion with both a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist.
Thanks for the advice. Generally speaking, is there a need to do radiation for advanced stage?
From what I've learned from my radiation oncologist, with advanced disease, radiation to the primary tumor (the prostate), even with distant metastases, has been shown to increase survival time 8-12%.
There's also a study underway in Germany called G-RAAMP looking at whether a radical prostatectomy is beneficial for advanced prostate cancer patient survival (preliminary results seem to suggest yes). So there's definitely evidence out there to justify removing or irradiation the prostate even after the horses have left the barn.
I have severe osteoporosis rib cage structure and PC, [from June 2022] which was not taken into account for treatment, the hormone injections decapeptyl SR reacted severely weakening my ribs, but vit D supplement pills strengthened my ribs, could have been severely life threatening? The radiotherapy and my diabetes 2 diets were not very complimentary either🙄
Get your ass out of the tree tarzan and give us your bio........(call Jane for help)
