Movie recommendation: x "[i] Jim Allison[/i] -BreakThrough."

Twilight Zone posted this in my thread about TCR. Coco and I watched the Documentary over the week end it was uplifting and educational as well. We watched it on something called Freeve (commercials included.) I highly recommend it.

Jim Allison has prostate cancer. I think it would be interesting see Daryll and or T Allen interview him and pick up with what has happened since 2019 when the movie was made.

Want to learn more about T-cells fighting cancer? Watch a documentary called "BreakThrough." It's about Dr. Jim Allison - he won the 2018 Nobel prize in medicine for his work in immuno therapy (CAR T-cells). I watched it on Prime or Netflix, your local library, perhaps even YouTube are sources. Made me feel I have a chance at beating my statge 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Good luck to all!

Thanks for sharing…Dr. Allison’s story was good to see. Is this the same as or similar to Provenge? I am not familiar with anyone who has tried it with PCa. Not sure if medicare covers this treatment?

The movie indicates that Bristol Meyers Squibb was the pharmaceutical firm working with Allison on the development. Provenge appears to be mfg'd by Dendreon Pharmaceuticals. So not the same and not necessarily an identical product. Pfizer was also working on a supposedly very similar product at the same time, which apparently had adverse, not curative, effects.
