Joint pain

Maybe it's the advanced cancer. PSA 800, 5 years ago. Zytiga-prednisone combo has worked great for me. Psa rose to .8 from undetectable (in the last few months) which is crazy good in my book. But my physical activity (firewood etc) causes joint pain, knees, shoulders, neck and hips. Using Hydrocodone in moderation (as needed) to kill the pain. Doctors can't believe that I'm doing so well. The pain is getting worse. Any ideas

I too have been on zytega for 6 years , PSA was 342 in diagnosis now 0.21 .

I have managed to run about 15,000 miles since diagnosis but joint /muscle pain has been a feature . I have never taken pain killers so maybe not as bad as yours however when I wake each morning I can only get down the stairs by holding the hand rail as my Achilles/ankles are so still . They loosen up but as the day wears on and when I run they become painful . I also have pain/soreness in my groin , knee, calf , lower back however they may be age related (I am only 57 mind) or just a bi product of the running that said I have wondered if zytega/zoladex/prednisone have anything to do with it and if the latter is the pain just pain or is it because of actual physical defects ?

I know all about hanging onto the handrail going up or down the steps. In my case it's a bad knee from sports in my childhood. Getting older doesn't help either, lol. Thanks for your input

There are many scenario's possible here. Lack of trace minerals, potassium magnesium etc. I'm only into this 18 months however my friends say I walk better than I did years ago and less stiff. I do detox's sauna regularly. I monitor my urine pH daily and goal each day to around 7.0-7.2. Noticed directly after my most recent Lupron shot 3+ days required to return my urine pH to acceptable ranges.

I'm taking magnesium and potassium pills daily. My oncologist seems to be up on everything. Thanks for your input

Were you ever given Cipro and or Levaquin to prevent sepsis for biopsies? A chiropractor who began her career when these drugs first came on the market has noted over the decades that her patients that have had previous injuries to tendons and ligaments that have long been healed, suddenly return with just normal activity, such as getting out of bed. It appears that these drugs aggressively go after the healed injuries. That is what happened to me.

A friend who was a physically active, rather athletic early 40's in age was given one of the first fluoroquinolones for a cold by his doctor in the 1980's. Free samples to the doctor by a pharma salesperson. you know how it goes. Within days he was having such pain he would suddenly need to support himself against something as he shook. He suffered neuropathy in his hands and lost so much vision he became legally blind. His life was destroyed by an early fluoroquinolone drug. There are quite a few fluoroquinolones. Cefdinir and Rocephin can be substituted for the fluoroquinolones.

Unfortunately, damage done by fluoroquinolone drugs is usually irreversible.

Don't really know if I was ever given those drugs in my lifetime. My psa was over 800 when my cancer was discovered. My previous general practitioner never gave me a PSA test. I was 65 years old in the emergency room when my first psa test was given. I felt very tired before being hospitalized. Four pints of blood and meds got me on my way to getting better. Always had a ton of energy but no real symptoms up to about a month before being hospitalized. Now my joint pain jumps around due to physical activity. No trouble with my hands, just shoulders knees and neck now. My lack of strength maybe due to low testosterone. Thank you for your input. I really appreciate your input.

Don't give in my friend. I know how difficult it can be. The fluoroquinolone drugs I was given came close to crippling me for years. I was unable to sleep in one position for more than an hour before waking with pain and needing to find another position to sleep in. I lost both shoulders and a SI ligament in my lower back that had ripped in the 1980's, ripped again by just getting out of bed.

Continue to stay as active as you can.

My best to you,

Thank you for the great advice. Every few days I go like I did 10 years ago. Have meds for the pain which I use sparingly. Like you my sleep is disrupted but we can deal with it. Thanks for your support
