Bone Scan

Hello Friends, I had a total body bone scan 2 days ago. I've been having a lot of discomfort in my the left side of my buttock. My family doc just informed me that the scan revealed the cancer has spread predominantly on the left side of the pelvic area despite my PSA continues to be undetectable. is radiation the next treatment to alleviate the pain? Would love any feedback. God bless you all

Yes, spot radiation may be able to eliminate the pain. It is probably a good idea to biopsy the pelvic metastasis before radiation. I suggest both a genomic analysis and an IHC analysis if there is sufficient tissue. Discuss this with your MO.

Good suggestion. Thank you TA

Interesting you suggest that TA. Seems the only negative of these newer scans is that see things so early and small that they are difficult to get enough material to biopsy and test. My met found on L/5 a year ago in a PSMS scan was so small that the ucla doctors thought it was a waste to even try to biopsy so I just had Dr Kishan zap it.

That's why PET is always done with a CT - to evaluate size. Like any diagnostic test, PET scans have to be used appropriately.

TA, I spoke with my Onc to discuss the MRI of the pelvis and prostate. He did say he will request a biopsy of the pelvic metastasis. You are the man👍

Hey nic! You can do this . The spot rt I’ve seen others talking about here can help . Get rid of that pain ! Hang in there , it should get better! 🙏🏜

You should discuss with your oncologist. Mine told me that radiation on bone is like firing bullets at concrete but it depends on your individual situation.

Just had a full body bone scan yesterday and told to avoid airports for the next 4-5 days due to the radioactive component of the pre test injection. I await the results of all these tests with some trepidation, especially as, like you, my PSA and T are undetectable, but perhaps if I get enough radiation in my body, I may be able to read at night in bed without a nightlight! Good luck with the treatment for the spread, hope everything goes well.

You’re a glow! Your magnetic personality ! 😂✌️ I had my yearly nuke scan a week ago . The mo will read me out next week. I never knew about the airport issue. Take care .

How goes it Nic? Is oxi helping ? 💔🙏

It takes the pain away somewhat but you gotta wait an hour. I feel like I'm in la la land with being light headed and not much appetite to eat.
