The same day we saw Dr. Kwon we saw Jeff’s radiation oncologist that afternoon. As I wasn’t anticipating much of an update from that appointment, I posted an update prematurely.
In short, Jeff’s radiation oncologist felt radium 223 was the best next treatment. Radium 223 targets the bones and that’s where the cancer progression is as well as his pain.
She said she would contact Jeff’s oncologist as well as Dr. Kwon to discuss.
The following day Kwon’s office called us back.
Guess what?! Guess what?!
Evidently LU-177 is on the very cusp of being approved.
Dr. Kwon is bringing Jeff back for a PSMA scan to see if he qualifies for this promising treatment.
In the meantime, Jeff will start a PARP inhibitor, I believe Lynparza/Olaparib.
We are guardedly hopeful!

Hello, That is wonderful news. Lutetium is readily available in many locations around the world and it has been for some time. Nice to know that soon it will be approved for North America. Keep us posted on Jeff's progress and good luck! Doctor Kwon is one of my "super heroes"!
That's great news. Just having a "next treatment" lined up is a relief I bet.
I expect to see good results. That's my line and I'm sticking with it!
Even if for some reason he cant get the Lu 177 the parp inhibitors and RA-223 are powerful weapons. Hope he gets some much needed time to take a deep breath.
You too. Hang in there as you keep supporting him.
Wow Stephanie! Great news! Your post the other day was so discouraging and we could all feel your pain in reading it. Hope and another day are such wonderful gifts!
I just got my first infusion of Lu 177 feb 23rd in oregon on a compssionate care program . I believe its working, I am in a lot of pain. Although being Manager. Good luck to you.
I think their VISION slots are filled--but maybe no. If Kwon team called Lefse, it must be very (very) close. I think our favorite PA has been bugging Novartis for info regularly.
Hi Stephanie, I just read through your post! What a year “your Jeff”has been through but thank God for family and friends like you. You’ve been a great blessing to Jeff and so many others that have read your post. Did Jeff have the DNA study to detect any gene mutations. I saw suggestions for PARP inhibitors so I was wondering if he has one the BRCA gene defects? If you already addressed this forgive me. I’ve been working and reading your story. I may have missed a post.
My husband is BRCA 2 and has been undetectable (PSA) on Lynparza for 18 months. He also completed 6 Xofigo (Radium 223)treatments as well and his last scan showed no progression of the bone Mets or new lesions.
My Jeff did the Guardant 360 test back in October and Dr. Kwon just had him repeat said test to see if there are anymore mutations and to see if the tumor burden is higher. Jeff barely qualified for immunotherapy… I think it’s 10 to qualify and he was at 11.
