Probably not. Dementia have a latency period of decades prior to cognitive manifestations. Xtandi might have had an augmenting effect on the dementia.

Thank you my husband is at present in hospital waiting to see if his confusion is caused by Xtandi before we are given a diagnosis. He has only been off the drug for a few days so it is a waiting game. He is much better in his general condition stronger and eating well again but still confused.

If it is the Xtandi, you might have a good case for insurance covering Nubeqa instead. It doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, and it doesn't active GABAa receptors (which would otherwise contribute to fatigue and mental slowness).

My brother was on Xtandi and having brain fog and said his memory was slipping. He has come off and is now on a trial where the treatment does not cross the blood Brain barrier. He feels 100% better.

Sorry to hear this Good that it is being evaluated. It would be called “cognitive impairment “ at this point. And yes may be due to medication in which case would be expected to improve or resolve when stopped. Not diagnosed as “dementia” unless proven to be due to progressive neurological process or accumulated damage from small strokes.Switching to Nubequa is an excellent idea.
