I forget how many years ago I ended up in the ER with 2 veins in my left calf two-thirds blocked. I was put on Warfarin - plus Lovenox as an interim treatment. Little did I know that I would be using Lovenox for over a month.

The ER doctor stressed that I should not use the full dose. I was to use a dose that was calculated based on my weight. VERY important!

My regular doctor had such difficulty finding the high Warfarin dose that would get my INR into the therapeutic range, that it was necessary to stay on Lovenox longer than usual. He told me to use the full dose, & after a few days put me on a double dose. So much for the admonishments of that ER doctor.

Lovenox inactivates one of the factors in the coagulation cascade (Xa). You inject into belly fat. I had no problems with it.

Thanks Patrick. Koy will need to be on it for 2 - 3 months. Hospital is telling us insurance usually doesn't pay and it is very expensive!!! Was this your experience?

The standard approach to clots is to prescribe an anticoagulant that slows coagulation. Meanwhile, the body dissolves the clot naturally via the enzyme plasmin. Plasmin is very slow. Nattokinase (which Nalakrats & I use) has a similar structure to plasmin but works much faster. & unlike plasmin, one can adjust the dose to quickly clear the clot.

I have used Lovenox off and on since October 2013 when I had DVT and PEs. Have had DVTs since and now have an Inferior Vena Cava filter. Currently on 120mg injected once daily. Humana Medicare insurance plan has always covered these syringes.

Best Wishes. Never Give In.

Mark, Atlanta

I started it about 8 weeks ago when they found a clot in my lung. The copay was VERY expensive even with insurance. My stomach is one huge black, blue and purple mark. I have bruises all over my body. My platelets are low but the Dr says my coagulation rate is fine. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? Want to change to pills !

I had Lovenox injections into the belly fat (one a day for 30 days, administered by my wonderful wife) after robotic RP. Not a lot of fun, but no problems, and paid for by insurance.
