Old beta-blocker Atenolol might be helpful in treatment of PCa

I recollect some old epidemiological studies indicating propranolol as a similarly PCa unfriendly agent. The evidence was strong enough for me to go to my general practitioner who took some precautionary cardio vascular tests and prescribed it. Been taking it for five or so years. It moderately slows heartrate (consider if other heartrate changing agents are used). No other side effects to report. Possibly a calming/alertness effect. Overall: why not?
Dx with PCa 23 years ago and been on Atenolol for 15 years. Did Atenolol help slow progression of PCa? I don't know but will probably be taking it for the rest of my life. Heart problems getting worse especially since I started taking Erleada.. Now also taking Avapro and Norvasc. Cardiologist says that I have Etopic Atrial Tacycardia. Normal heart rate now about 100-110.
Great post, Curious. It's fascinating and odd that beta-blockers could hinder the advancement of PCa....just another indication of the complexity of this condition! Thanks! - Joe M.
Indeed, seems like the best way to fight PCa is through some cocktail of various drugs, similar to the way HIV is attacked by retrovirals. We just need to add a few more tweak to our arsenal, and it could become a truly chronic, manageable condition, let's hope!
