Patrick has several posts on the subject as well. If he hasn't seen it already, I'm sure he'll be interested. I have started taking it two months ago.

Please explain. What is it that you have started taking two months ago as per your post?

It’s a 5-lox inhibitor:

It says only standardized 20%, seems like a very low dose. Boswelia (Indian Frankincense) is described as a 5-Lox inhibitor. Amazon: tinyurl.com/y4jvk34g

I don’t know what the “right” dosage is, if any. I’d like to see any paper on it if you are in possession of it.

It's a question of bio- availability.

Thanks for your response and info. Are we saying that this Life Extension product is the same or similar to . the inhibitor MK591 identified by the researchers.

Sorry I don't have any dose information for use in this situation. This is the problem I see time and again with alternative therapies using supplements there is little if any info about how much might be effective. Typical daily dose on the label would likely be minimal and yet how much to take is left up to the user.

I'm not sure. There are several types of 5-LOX inhibitors. This is based on Boswellia.

What is your dose/frequency? Before a meal or after?

I just take one a day before bed.

Who makes this pill? That is, what is the brand? How many milligrams in a single pill?

Alex,

Ghosh was the partner of Dr Myers in 5-LOX studies from 1997 to 2002 [1]-[7], & more recently 2010 [8].

If I recall correctly, Boswelia Serrata is a good supplement for this. There are some previous posts about this.

Edited to add, I tried to do a search on the forums, but did not find anything. No time now to dig deeper.

I also take a baby aspirin 2-3 times a day as aspirin is also a 5-Lox inhibitor.

Baby aspirin is 81 mg per each tablet. We take this low dose aspirin to prevent platelets from forming clots. Taking it 81 mg X 3 times will not work as an antiplatelet and become anti-inflammatory (NSAID).

Why not take regular aspirin 320 mg?
