You may see if a GoodRx coupon exists--discount--it may help --it will list the lowest price in your area

My monthly cost is $13k, blue cross is picking up $10k of the cost and the drug manufacturer has basically waved the remaining $3k leaving zero cost to me....I am thankful

Paying about 13k each year thru donut hole and monthly of 560 dollars. Estelles will give no help. Obtain drug thru Diplomat. United Healthcare is supplemental and Medicare part D. This hurts tremendously for wife and I.

Kaiser is a much better deal...check it out.

560 is also what I'm paying each month except for the first month of the year it was close to 2000.

This is where it becomes confusing. I pay at beginning of year some 5,000 dollars that gets me thru the donut hole.. After this assault, I then pay 5 percent of full Xtandi retail price each month that comes to 560 monthly. For a grand total of some 12,000 annually. Perhaps you may have a number of other drugs that get you 3/5ths of the way thru donut hole that you have already paid before first Xtandi monthly dose ships. Only our government could devise such a scheme.

Kaiser ... $3400 in Jan...$12 month rest of year thru medicare. January really hurts...even on SS dont qualify for assistance...Bummer.

You might try PANF (Patient Access Network Foundation). panfoundation.org/index.php... The last I checked (early Dec 2018) they had funding for Xtandi. They have been very helpful for me getting Xtandi.

If you’re a vet, try signing up for VA healthcare and run meds through the VA. I honestly didn’t think I was eligible, but after some encouragement by some vet friends of mine I applied and was accepted. My co-pay is $22.00 a month for the Xtandi. Your actual co-pay may be different based on your assigned priority group.

Good luck

Can you have Medicare and still get VA healthcare?

Yes. I’ve both. You can (I believe) apply online. I made an appointment with a VA Service Officer and applied with his help at our local clinic. But that was only because I had questions about VA Disability. Were you in Vietnam?

Thank you for the information my Brother. I wonder if I need an ID card or would my RA number work? I have always regretted not volunteering for Nam. Stationed at Ft. Myer and after a brief time with the Agency, I was sent to Landstuhl, Germany. Served as an MP and the base commanders driver and aid. I am in California, where are you living? Take care and keep on keepin' on keeping.

You’re most welcome!

I brought my DD-214 with me to my VA Services Officer meeting. With all the new web based access these days, I think they can check your status when you apply online. Or there might be an option to upload a DD-214 if you have an electronic copy.

I ask about Nam because of AO exposure and prostate cancer being a presumptuous illness. I was not in Nam either - too young - However, I was in MP School at Ft McClellan, AL in the mid 70’s. Seems they used AO there during my time. I’ve applied for VA Disability due to herbicide exposure. Waiting on my appeal decision.

I was in Germany for 2 1/2 years- 76 to 79. I served about 18 months at Miesau (very close to Landstuhl) Army Depot as a Tower Rat. Then moved to White Hat duty in Mannheim for the remainder of my tour.

Currently living just north of Santa Fe, NM.

We just paid $2500 for January. My husband is on Medicare, drugs are through Part D. Not sure what the co pay will be next month as he just started Xtandi. Out of pocket last year for Zytiga was about $9000. Completely ridiculous.

Mine (Xtandi) was free to me after insurance. I told them I could not afford $1400/mo. and the docs filed a form with the drug company to wave my portion and they did.

I'm not on Xtandi anymore and I notice 2 things starting about 2 weeks after I stopped

1. I sleep better, crazy stupid dreams gone.

2. My vision which was good before Xtandi and got progressively worse has cleared up and vision is good again, a very significant difference.

3. I don't chase cars down the street anymore. O.K., just kidding about the cars. . .I still chase them.

I pay $3500 in January for my my deductible, then $100/month after that with Kaiser (pre-Medicare). That also brings my visits to 20% until I hit $6000 in September or so, then free the rest of the year. I did the math and high deductible is way cheaper in the long run ,
