Are there people, possibly such as yourself, that would like to get their penile functions back.

Short answer to that is...... absolutely!! I lost function in 2016 at 46 years old. Even before surgery while on ADT i could manage and my docs thought that was pretty incredible. I loved what I had, never had a complaint in the bedroom and sized more than adequate. Nothing but a memory and yeah it's hard to cope. I miss it and look back and think how I took it all for granted. I am learning how to accept it.

When I get down about it I remind myself that is only a fraction of life. I have 3 daughters and all 3 are smart, beautiful and strong young women. I live for them and very proud. More proud of them than anything. All my hobbies center around being outdoors. You know man, before cancer if I ever had to choose between my passions in life or sex I would have chose my passions. They are not the small percentage they are the larger part that makes up our life. We all have things that make us tick. Have you ever been outside early in the morning when the sun is just breaking and everything is waking up? Try it and you will find peace and it makes a person realize a lot.

There are many men outside of prostate cancer that lost the ability to function. It can always be worse, some people are in a wheelchair too. It's not easy to look past it but find the things that really matter and cherish them now. With an advanced cancer diagnosis don't take what you have now for granted. Focus on the bigger percentages in your life. I get in funks too, just have to look past it and remind yourself that there are so many things left that we are still blessed with.

Happy Holidays

It has been over 18 years since I had my RP. I miss that "Man Spirit" not just the erection thing...it's an emptiness I've had & will have for the rest of my life.Energy has never been the same either. BUT I have to be very grateful that I am still here & getting older...67 now!!

It's just so difficult to get past the debilitating depression. Side effect of lupron and death sentence.

Hy Lombardi24, The mental effects of what we deal with is a lot to bare. A man is robbed of a lot and no guarantees how long anything will work. I find doing things I love helps. Even going for a walk will let your mind breath and remind yourself how beautiful the world can be. I get depressed too about what this disease has done to me. Mid 40's, great shape, worked my way up to a good job and 2 years into a good relationship and wham. Brother my life has been a whirlwind since and not all in a good way. Maybe a support group could help or talk to a friend and don't hold it all in. We don't know what's around the next corner.

If it's been less than 3 years since surgery, penile rehab may help. If beyond that, or if you have venous leak (blood won't stay in your penis), a penile implant is a sure thing.

Best thing to do is get the penile implant. Insurance covered mine. Dont wait till you shrink up to nothing because you dont get it back!

Works good. Its just i waited 8 years to get it done and its small but works. I think its an AMS implant. If your going to be on ADT forever i wouldnt think twice.

American Medical Systems (AMS) make the AMS 700 penile prosthesis. It is surgically implanted in place of the blood vessels responsible for an erection. It is 2 expandable silicone cylinders filled with saline. A saline reservour is implanted under the stomach fat and a pump/controller implanted in the scrotum. So you pump up the cylinders when required and open a valve to let them drain. Quite effective, definitely irreversible. Use a surgeon well experienced in this. AMS also make the AMS 800 urinary sphincter which is invaluable to those of us with severe urinary incontinence. I have both, implanted about 12 years ago. The AMS 800 failed after about ten years and was replaced. The AMS 700 has had no issues, but it hasn't been overused - I had to go to ADT a couple of years after implant. Both are pretty much the gold standard for their respective conditions

Your urologist is the person to talk to first.

i remember when i was going through drugs, testing and treatments. i had 2 choices 1. get hard which is hard to do once your on treatments 2. live so i choice living. i got over it but i felt die and be hard or live and not be so its your choice i would rather put my total effort in living. there is not cure, unless u want a penal implant who the shit cares.

Erecaid esteem pump effective and even works even for some diabetics. Insurance may pay for it.

But is doesnt fiil out the whole penis and make it fat and rigid like a normal erection, right? Just the center gets plump and erect...yes? Does penis look like a normal erect penis? I read where the base of penis doesnt have the same support as a naturally erect penis. Is this also true?

It fills it our completely and large diameter. You would lose a little in length. It looks perfectly normal, not sure where you got that. And, they leave about 2 inches inside your abdomen for stability. Same sensation as the original. Really is fantastic. The downside is most guys wait too long like I did and you lose 2 or so inches in length from the original.

Yes, and I would like to be 25 again and living in the Haight-Ashbury - in my apartment that was costing $80 a month.

Yes, very lonely. RP in 1996, no erections since. Devastating to my marriage and self esteem. Pump and pills did not work. Stabbing my dick or another surgery are not options. Would never have had this surgery had I known.

Would take back my cancer-addled prostate in a New York minute.

They found mets right after surgery. Had I known they would I never would have had surgery. So now ...no prostate or erections and mets anyway. Waste of time and my sexuality.

The small prick, parden the pun guys, of the injection would solve your problems as it did mine & it is not painful at all. Active ingredient is Pagaverine & Alprostadi & it is under prescription here in OZ. Three notches on the needle & i cant go anywhere for 3hrs after or i could be arrested. AMI Direct here is the first contact.

Happy Holidays!!

I did the injections for a year. I found it painful, but besides that it wasn’t 100% for me. It was 8 or 9 times out of 10. Now with the AMS I never look back.

I get bad pain during erection. Caused by the prostaglandin. Kills any enjoyment.
