Dr. Nuland proves and interesting point of mine...he says he wish he never had radiation because his PCa was not a threat and then it came back..cancer is like the terminator "I'll Be Back"...you tried to kill me and now I will kill you...because of this IMO most men would be better off never treating PCa because if the treatment fails you are in a world of hurt.

For those who may not have heard of him, Dr. Nuland wrote an influential book "How We Die" back in the 1990s, and himself died from prostate cancer in 2014 at the age of 83. He had a complex and interesting life.

More recent authors, such as Dr. Atul Gawande who wrote “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End.” and also the basis of a PBS Documentary of the same title, and Dr. Paul Kalanithi who wrote "When Breath Becomes Air", have also provided excellent and more contemporary resources for patients and their families who are dealing with advanced disease and end-of-life issues and decision-making.
