I had a radical prostatectomy on January 25. My Psa was 27 and Gleason was a 9. What can I do to gain control over my bladder? Hate diapers

Do your keel exercises religiously. If that’s not helpful after a few months, PT, drug and surgical options exist. Good luck with it!

My husband has had great success with doing Kegels exercises. He does them religiously (3 to 4 sets a day). Fortunately, he had two or three physical therapy sessions prior to his prostatectomy. It will improve for you, hopefully. Everyone is different. Wishing you all the best. This site is absolutely invaluable ! I honestly don't know what I would do without it.

In the USA if you Google "pelvic floor physical therapy near me" you may get a list and map of local providers who may offer physical therapy and treatments for dealing with urinary incontinence after prostate procedures.

Kergel exercises will help you to control this problem. I had your problem for about 8 months! I will never forget the day the Urologist took the catheter out of me and said I would have a control problem! And I never thought I would be able to hold my urine! But I did the kergel exercises every day and 13 years later Im ok! Never give up and always think positive and you will overcome any obstacle in your life! I am living proof of that because in addition to my advanced prostate cancer I have other afflictions which I have overcome! Good luck and God Bless!

I had my Prostatectomy in Dec. Do the Kegels, I have regained full control of my bladder and will just have an occasional drip. I did not think that was going to be the case just 4 weeks ago. Hang in there.

I also had RP surgery just about 2 years ago. First few months were tough, it does get better. I had radiation after to make sure there were no mets. That seemed to set me back a bit. Do the kegels but also foods can really affect your leakage. Here is an article that reviews what they are. I do see a definite affect when i eat/drink these..good luck. it will get better.

Thanks everyone. This journey is just beginning and I want to take it one step at a time. Gaining bladder control is my goal right now.
