I went through chemo and it took nearly two years for my lymph nodes to return to normal.

Hi, my husband has been nearly nine years. He did well on hormone needles every three months. casodex. And a steroid.came back this year and very aggressive, tumor grew up from the prostrate blocked kidney tubes, had the tubes six months, taxotere chemo, and radadition, just found out a couple weeks ago that there is a tiny lymph node, just one that is cancerous?? Going to see the surgeon this week to schedule a biopsy?Oh, yes Zitaga and Xdandi did not work for him after chemo. PSA doubled.

Hi, nameless, are you getting any treatment at this time?? I thought after all the chemo and radiation my husband had that he would get a teak got a while after the oncologist put him on Zitaga???

in reply to ronnie1943

I'm getting a Lupron shot every three months. Let me say this, three years ago I had so many infected lymph nodes, they quit counting them. One year later the nodes in my pelvic area were back to normal, two years later the nodes in my chest were (and are) back to normal. It took that long for the chemo to clean house, relax.

Thank you for your reply. Ten years ago my husband had a huge tumor removed from his arm that had wrapped around his bone from his shoulder to his elbow. Thank God they were able to save his arm. Had twenty eight radiation treatments. On arm and other bone mets. Has been on Lupron shots ever since.

So happy to hear your lymph nodes are back to normal.

I just finished my sixth chemo and am taking a pass on number 7 due to fatigue and neuropathy . We discovered that I have enlarged lymph nodes pressing against my right lung that were not there pre chemo. Just completed a bronchoscopy to biopsy the lymph nodes and harvest some material for genetic testing. Confirmed nodes had prostate cancer present. Feeling defeated that the cancer has grown while on chemo, yet you say your nodes took 1-2 years to return to normal. I have pelvic mets and 1 spine met. I am 4 years out from RP with 35 psa and gleason 7. Psa is now 10. I'm seeing the half empty part of my glass so your 1-2 years gives me hope.

Never give up hope. There is so much they can do today.my husband also went through chemo and now after all that chemo one cancerous lymph node was found, we go this week to surgeon to schedule a biopsy. His radiation oncology dr.is saying that radiation will take care of cancerous lymph nodes.

It's quite a disappointment to go through all the treatment and only to find more cancer. But we have to keep on trucken.... It gives me hope to that nameless 9999s lymph nodes went back to normal in one and two years. I just joined this site and we are all here to support each other.

Twenty eight radiation treatments and to answer your question he was almost eleven months on taxotere chemo. Now they just found from a cat scan a cancerous lymph node. Only one,?? We go to the surgeon this coming Friday to schedule a biopsy to see what the next course of treatment. Tell your Dad to,hang In There, we are in this together and all here for each other!!! 🙏🏻

Hopefully like nameless stated, your husband’s lymph nodes will go back to normal over time. Depending on where the lymph node is located they can do a needle biopsy (like I had). You also have the option of trying hormonal therapy. Listed below are two references that, while not a 100% hit on your husband’s case, can offer insight.

Know this, we are all with you! God bless all caregivers! It is really harder on caregivers than the ones with cancer. While nothing I say can remove the apprehension you should know this, you have more people than you know praying for the two of you. As the song goes “people like us we have to stick together”!

you know praying

Hi, me again....Dr.WHO, after chemo and put on Zitaga. My husbands PSA kept rising. The Zitaga was not working. It didn't work before chemo and neither did Xdandi. They just found the one tI y lymph node, the oncologist said its deep?? Well, like I said we will find out more at the surgeon app. This Friday. 🙏🏻

Prayers going your way. Did the medical oncologist say that the cancer is resistant to all hormonal therapies or just Zytiga? Let’s plan on getting some good news on Friday.

ronnie1943 profile image
ronnie1943 in reply to Dr_WHO

Prayers for you too!!! My husbands oncologist didn't say, just that Zitaga was not working and that after this recent cat scan she found a tiny lymph. She said it was very deep?? She stopped the Zitaga. She said she wanted the results of the biopsy to know where to go next with treatment ??

Dr_WHO in reply to ronnie1943

Well my story may give you hope. After surgery I had yet another enlarged lymph node. Three weeks of worry, three! Needle biopsy showed that it was benign. Cancer sucks. Worrying about every change sucks. But let’s hope that your husband’s is also benign.

Hi,...Dr. WHO, from what we were to by my husbands oncologist was that after his cat scan with contrast the lymph node was cancerous.?? She said after the biopsy she will know what the next course of treatment???

I am a nervous person to begin with and after this past year of chemo, radiation, kidney tubes. I really thought my husband would get a little time off from treatment, but his PSA started doubling after chemo. He was put on Zitaga that didn't work and here we are?? Thank you for your support.

All I can say is to be strong. Cancer is bad enough without letting your mind run wild. There is NOTHING, repeat, NOTHING that you have said that would lead me to believe that there is not reason for hope. Gentle lady, I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. The pain that cancer causes the caregivers, in my case Pat, brings tears to my eyes. Yes it is scary, but there is hope. Know that you are never, never alone. God bless the two of you.🙏🙏🙏

hope.

Hi Lynn, I assume your husband "ronnie 1943" was born in 1943. I am also a 1943 baby and have posted numerous blogs regarding my LN detection in Melbourne, and subsequent robotic surgery in California. You may want to read about my experience. Wishing "ronnie" the best, Ron
