Not going to happen any time soon. The University has adopted a policy that there faculty cannot prescribe nor research marijuana and it's relatives until it becomes clear that Federal Law will allow it. They do not want to risk losing any Federal Research Grants. A full-time faculty member just confirmed this in a meeting recently when asked. It was a discussion about Alternative Medicine at the University.

Thanks for the reality. Unfortunate. So the Feds are the ones that are halting this. Maybe the NCI are the people to ask. I have heard that "non-recreational" strains of weed still have benefit. If that is true, then the federal prohibition is especially shameful.

The DEA is a tough nut to crack. Take for instance, the DEA wants to categorize Kratom as a Schedule 1 drug. This means it has no medicinal value, and highly likely to cause addiction. I first heard of this drug about a month ago. It's part of the coffee family, and has been used for thousands of years in South America for pain and euphoric effects. So, here we have a stupid old white haired guy telling the rest of the world were the stupid ones. Just like marijuana, Kratom is just as unlikely to cause any harm whatsoever.

The mentality of the DEA must change before any real reform can happen.
