Does any have experience with school-based OT? We made the request and are not sure what to expect or ask. Thanks!

My 4th grade son's attention and impulsivity had intensified. It's not only behavioral but is also impacting his academics.

Our school would not provide OT for our son so We took our son to OT off campus and paid for it Theough our health insurance.

Now my son qualifies for this service through his IEP services. OT helps my son with fine motor skills like writing and they provide large motor skill activities like allowing my so. To attend two gym classes a day. He is doing g the rules of regulation program through his school OT. They have red, yellow and green Zones. Green is good to go , yellow is caution Mt behaviors may be escalating and red zone is stop this behavior before me or someone else gets hurt! This allows my son to self reflect on how he is feeling and how to de escalate his behaviors before he or someone else gets hurt. It’s a great program. My son works on calming strategies through breathing activities to help him reset his behavior so he can return to class.

Google it and you will learn more.

It has blessed my sons life and he will continue to have these services provided for him no matter what school he attends in his school future. I hope this helps!

Best of luck!
