I've just been told a patch of endometriosis appeared on my MRI scan in my uterus and earlier this year a blood filled cyst was found in my uterus. My consultant is reluctant to give a formal diagnosis of adenomyosis but he seems pretty sure it must be.
Could I ask what symptoms people have... - Adenomyosis Advic...
Could I ask what symptoms people have and how they were diagnosed please?
Hi. I was told that the only way they will 100% confirm adenomyois by removing the uterus which isn't always the immediate next step. From speaking to people and what I was told by consultant that endo and adenomyois go hand in hand. And any treatment isn't much different to what is already done with the endo although don't think they can remove it like endo as its in the wall of the uterus. There's not much written on adenomyois either out there annoyingly. Hope this helps
Hi
Adenomyosis can be diagnosed on the look of the womb, much larger, boggy, lesions, bulky etc.
Endometriosis is growth of endometrial cells outside of the womb not inside the womb, these get stuck to the feminine organs, the cavity the bowel and rectum and so forth, bleed on your cycle and because they have no where to go they form adhesions and build up on any scar tissue, being fed by our estrogen supply so the organs can befome sticky, adhered to or stuck together causing us pain. I had both conditions pre hysterectomy.
Blood filled cysys are often known as chocolate cysts or endometriomas (ie the endometrial tissue that had no place to go but build up. )
I think you are right and if its inside your womb adenomyosis seems a given.
Did they mention enlarged size or bulk to yoour womb?
Good luck pet.
Are you in much pain day yo day, what age are you and how are you managing?
Helly.
