effects of malnutrition

I had Botox done 4 months ago and it did not improve anything for me. Currently I am awaiting an appointment with my Dr

Achalasia has completely changed my life. It sure has made it more difficult deal with the function of everyday life. Even though I never ever thought that it was possible to have a health condition that causes me more problems than my neurofibromatosis. Not being able to eat is messing with my mind. I have no idea how to deal with the losses of time due to malnutrition. I feel like my body is shutting down. How do you deal with not being able to eat when it is compounded by an allergic reaction to Baclofen that left me unable to swallow as my esophagus became tighter for 3 weeks(only 2 pills taken).

Sorry to hear about your trouble.Achalasia is normally caused by problems with the nerve endings controlling the muscles driving peristalsis, or the may muscles push food through the digestive system, particularly the lower oesophageal sphincter. So already having trouble with the nerve endings, as you describe, might mean that the achalasia symptoms might be another effect of the condition you mentioned, and any specialists would need to consult your existing consultant. I can see why they undertook the Botox ,- on the basis that it is low risk and might improve things. I am not medically qualified, but there may be some scope for trying medications, even like Sildenafil, but this has to be considered carefully by specialist Doctors. Identifying the triggers for the painful spasms is important ( reflux or blocked food for instance). The other treatments are dilatation, Heller's myotomy or POEM. These are described in links from our website. I can see that there are plenty of risks for you in any of these that they may not solve the issue very well, but do wish you the very best for successful treatment.
