We have just introduced a new poll on the issue of spasms. The questions are how often you suffer from them, linked with whether you have them after surgical treatment. You can only answer once, so this is not very scientific, but please answer for the surgical treatment questions if this is relevant.
From our meetings, it seems that some people do have spasms after treatment, but it is not all that clear how prevalent that is.

Since 2005 I have suffered the excruciating chest pain known as cardiospasm. It happens at any time and is relieved by drinking cold water. At night I’ve often suffered up to 18 separate episodes which makes sleeping impossible. Life is difficult as I have to carry cold water just in case... I tend to isolate because of the condition. I’m now in Stage 4 achalasia and awaiting POEM treatment. I’m hoping that this will to some extent alleviate severe chest pains...
