prednisolone 3 week course followd by surgery
Hi please can anyone advise how long to wait in between a prednisolone course and surgery ? I have heard from the nurses that if you have an IM steroid injection they postpone surgery for 6 to 8 weeks to allow the imunosuppresant effects to wear off before surgery. my RA consultant seems to think

Seretide and Addisons disease
I was diagnosed with Addisons in May 2023 and have been using inhaled steroids / seretide for chronic Asthma for 20+ years. My endocrine consultant told me to stop taking my seretide which I declined to do, as Asthma extremely well controlled, unless he refers me to Asthma team at hospital to manage

A reply to Wasabigirl’s post about PID (?) which has since been deleted
You could ask for an MRI of the lower pelvis and muscles there. A sonogram generally cant see those areas (nor a laparoscopy or laparotomy) and pain in those areas can refer to the groin. I had an infection and was only treated with tetracycline for 5 days (many years ago). Then the terrible burning

Hi all, happy new year to you all, hope everyone's doing ok ❤️ I'm wondering how long people were instructed to stay on steroids? We were lucky enough to get our first ever BFP on our first donor egg transfer before Christmas. I have several autoimmune issues so was put on steroids: 10mg a day from

Autoimmune Encephilitis
Hi all! I’m here on bahalf of my little sister. She’s 23. Her joruney started with a grand mal seizure on her honeymoon. She was hospitalized in Fort Worth for a month where they determined she had viral encephalitis and meningitis caused by HSV-1. She was released to neuro rehab at Baylor a month later

Flare up or just Fatigue?
I have tapered to 7.5 mg this month using Dorset Lady's table, but in the last few days I have pains around the hips which is only relieved by sitting down. I wake up around 4.30 a.m. and so have several spells of faitigue/deep sleeps in the early evening. When I am out I lean against counters

Back on Steroids
Hello to all Three years ago I was diagnosed with GCA and put on 75mg of Prednisilone tapering for 2 years till I finished. I managed to stay off Prednisone for 1 year. During that time I suffered many side effects, well that is what I thought was the case. I improved slowly but then went downhill

I have Churg Strauss (EGPA) treated with methotrexate and steroids, and have been invited for Phnumonia and Shingles vaccinations. Are they safe/sensible to have?

Hi,I'm posting on behalf of my mum, who was diagnosed with PMR at the end of October this year, after I took her to A & E. She told them she was certain she had PMR, but they were not convinced thinking she had osteoarthritis, until her blood results came back confirming PMR. It was in her thighs &

help with the mental health side of vasculitis
hello all, I’ve just been recently diagnosed with suspected vasculitis. Waiting on skin biopsy results to determine which kind. Spent 5 days in hospital due not being able to walk from how swollen my legs and feet were plus covered all over with the typical vasculitis looking rash. Released from hospital

Progression
I was first diagnosed 13 years ago but had no symptons and stayed that way for 6 - 7 years before my breathlessness slowly increased. I was already on meds for hypertension and hypothyroidism but also had a shoulder inflammation, poly myalgia rheumatica, [PMR] which started me on steroids, I managed

Steroids and blood-sugar...
I posted recently about the "Prednisolone jitters" and quite a lot of people seem to have responded with similar experiences. I think I might have some insight which might be useful to someone out there... Before being diagnosed with PMR I used to get episodes of low blood sugar. I know this because

GCA Concerns, Cold and Eyes
I hope everyone had as wonderful a Christmas as I did, despite our health battles. I flew to Arkansas where 2 of my adult kids and 4 of my grandkids live. 2 other adult kids and their spouse and fiancé came, and it’s been a wonderful time. A cold was going around, and I caught it. Just the sniffles,

Coughing again ...
Hi all - I posted here in early December after a trip to India set my asthma off because of the dreadful pollution. I saw a fabulous doctor who threw everything at me - nebulizer, antibiotics, steroids, Omeprazole, cough medicine and an antihistamine - which calmed it all down. He did say he couldn't

I’ve struggled with these for about twenty years and they have diminished over time. However, since going on preds, just over five weeks ago, they have got worse. Asthma not well controlled
I'm worried that my asthma is not well controlled, I'm on highest dose of Fostair which was switched from Flutiform earlier this year as my Asthma nurse believed I needed a higher dose of steroid to control my asthma as I frequently need Steroids. I also have Spiriva, Carbocisteine and Montelukast but
