Insulin pump - new Omnipod

Hi, despite being a type one diabetic for the last 23 years, I've finally taken advice of my diabetic care team and started on an insulin pump last week! It is a brilliant innovation which I'm getting on okay with it but do feel a little like I've stepped back 23 years, as there is so much to learn again! Would love to connect with other UK omnipod insulin pump users, (particularly those with busy jobs and changing daily routines) to chat with and compare notes, hints and tips!

Well done. I have been on a pump for more than 12-13years. I love it ! I have been T1 for 52yrs this June. With a pump I can please myself if I want that bag of crisps or no dinner. A couple of pushes of buttons & sorted. Can you imagine how my injections I have had. Upto 4 a day for yrs ? I have NEVER been unemployed in my life. Keep at it JenG16

In time you will think "why did I not do this sooner". I have a Medtronic 640. A big fella could not pinch it off me. Its like being free just being able to have that bag of crisp without getting needles & syringes out. A couple of pushes of buttons, & crisps gone.

Hiya, I'm new to this forum and all forums in fact 😄 is this an American one? Just because I know the treatments are slightly different however I got an omnipod last year. After ten years of bad sugars and 12 injections a day I am very glad to have it, if only not having to jag anymore. Are you finding your blood sugars better with it? After nine months I don't feel it's controlling them all that better and was wondering if you have had better luck?

Hi! Yeah I think it is a US site but only thread on here for diabetes I'm in the UK. Only three weeks in and straight off began to see a huge difference! It's still great at weekends when at home but still up and down at work as no Day is ever the same! Which is frustrating! Being patient with it and still optimistic I'll be able to settle it down a bit after a few weeks! Love not injecting though and not having to excuse myself from client meetings! Are you not seeing patterns in peaks either then? When I carb count properly and not stressed it works perfect. Still they say patience is a virtue . . . We'll see with time 😀
