Metastatic Breast Cancer
Hi jarmaghan.....
I hope you know that there is still a lot of hope. You will find some residual strength from what you have learned about your first experience with cancer. Other strength you can pool is from your friends and family. Many people find it easier to withdraw but I will tell you a story.
I was 3/4 of the way through my cancer treatment. I was feeling very scattered and weak. My niece came by with a friend. They were both early 20's. Her friend was wearing very bright and fun clothing. My niece said "...meet Eva. She is an actress." It turns out that she was being filmed for a documentary about her life. She had received a double lung transplant as a treatment for cystic fibrosis.
I remember one message that I didn't understand at the time. She said that if she had a chance to change her past, she would leave it as is. She would not change the fact that she developed CF. After about 7 years it struck me. I know now what I did not know back then. My hidden treasure from my mess of a life was absolute unconditional loving. First of myself. Then my son. Then my husband. I can now see the ripple effect of this very deep love passed on to my daughter and her boyfriend.
You are the only person I have shared this special story with. There must be a reason why.

PS I participated in the 3rd arm of a study with regards to taking Ibandronate to strengthen bones after cancer treatments. I received very close monitoring by doctors. I felt good that I was helping an already proven theory. Now these drugs can be prescribed to women/men who need them.
Thank you so much for sharing such an inspirational and loving experience! It helped immensely. I also have been treated with Ibandronate since 2009 and have seen good results in subsequent bone density scans. The best to you and your family!
Thank you for your reply. At first the researchers said I was too late to enter the study. They needed more than two days (study was closing) to process my application. I can't remember my words but I told them I hoped they would reconsider their decision. I was very honest about wanting to see my son and daughter graduate grade 8. I cried. The one staff left. Then came back shortly and said they would do it. And they did!! And I was humbled by their belief in me.
One door closed and the another one opened. Take care jarmaghan. And write back when you feel the urge. Jennie
