Hi all. So long story short. I had an upper respiratory viral infection. So did my little boy. Just after Xmas. Also followed by me having to say goodbye to my fur baby on New Years day extremely emotional and stressfull. Within a few days of this I noticed T in my left ear. I have recently been to the Dr and he said my ear canal was inflamed/ red and also ear drum looked tense (not sure what really means) Well anyway I've had an ear spray and apart from a couple of days where T wasn't noticeable it is now back to where it was. I have noticed the more anxious/stressed/emotional I am it does tend to spike?? Any advice or comment's are appreciated? TIA

stress can indeed make tinnitus worse. And the more stress the T gives you the more anxious you get so the T is perceived to be worse …… and so it goes on.

There’s much guidance on Tinnitus UK website and when you have absorbed some of this do get back to us if you wish with any specific issues.

I have had tinnitus on & off for years but it was never very bad, but since I had an ear infection in January it is now very loud & constant. I was completely deaf in my left ear but the tinnitus was really bad. I felt like I was underwater at of the time.

My GP said that I may have Eustachian Tube Dysfunction .I was given antibiotic ear drops.

This lasted for about 1 month , I can now hear a little out of my left ear but have very loud & constant tinnitus.

I am struggling to sleep & concentrate at work.

I have been referred to ENT for a consultation & hearing testing. But I think that there may be a long wait.

I'm yet to be referred. I have 2 days where my T is non existent and then it comes back again for a couple of days ?

I use a white noise machine although I have noticed it does change the frequency of my T

My Dr also said my ear drum looked tense ? My hearing is fine apart from being a little muffled first thing

My eardrum was tense as well but this was due to the Eustachian Tube Dysfunction .

How long did take for your ETD to clear ? I'm on week 7/8. Was given a nasal spray in Friday from the Dr and told to steam twice a day ? Does your ETD make you feel generally unwell lethargic? Making my anxiety 10x worse because I'm worrying that uts something more sinister

Mine lasted one month but will probably come back if I get a cough , cold or hay fever.

Now I’m left with reduced hearing & annoying tinnitus.

I does make me feel really exhausted & fed up.
