Hi, has anyone else tried the Octovent kit. Is it easy to use, snd does it work? Many thanks as I have blocked eustation tubes.

In case anyone requires context - this is the product I think Flowers is querying: otovent.co.uk/what-is-otove...

Yes, I used it, it’s easy to use once you get the hang of it. I didn’t have blocked tubes, I had a clicking in my left ear every time the tube opened or closed, the Otovent didn’t help for that.

What method did you use. My balloon doesn't seem to deflate when I first try to release it up my nose. But I'm still abit congested in my nose.

you inflate the balloon using one nostril, then swallow or you can drink some water, you use it several times a day for the first two weeks. If your tubes are completely blocked it might not work at first, I suppose.

I'll try that. Thanks again.

Good luck, I hope it works for you. There will be hints and tips in the Amazon reviews, I expect, and no doubt videos on YouTube you may find helpful.

I have got one. It is easy to use but it is very similar to doing the Valsalva manoeuver. This involves simply holding your nose and gently blowing to increase the pressure in your sinuses. This should open up the eustation tubes. It is helpful on planes when the external pressure changes.

Its probably safer than the Valsalva manoeuvre, as the balloon regulates the pressures, there's always a danger of blowing too hard sometimes I think. But yes, its the same sort of thing.

You feel the Otovent method / kit is a better bet?

I have been trying to clear my tubes for a few months now. Do you feel the Valsalva manoeuvre used regularly (how many times a day?) will eventually clear the tubes? I'm sure my T started when my tubes blocked.

I probably use the Valsalva manoeuvre several times a day, when my hearing drops off a little or just when it feels like they need popping. But everyone is different so can't suggest what might work for you. The Otovent is cheap and easy to use so might be best. Just experiment. Good luck.

The Otovent is similar to the Valsalva manoeuvre, but safer I think, there's no chance of blowing too hard with the Otovent, the device gets very good reviews on Amazon, you can read people's experiences there and see if it may be helpful to you.
