Two Sounds

Hello,

Does any else suffer with two different types of sounds?

I've had a high-pitched ringing for a couple of years but now now I seem to have developed a second low/hollow/tunnel type sound.

It's a bit distressing also as I used to get a bit of respite from the high-pitched sound sort of every few days but now it's been constant for at least the last two weeks.

So yeah, does anyone have two sounds?

Cheers

HiI do yes

The main act is a constant hight pitched hiss.

I intermittently get a much lower drone and separately an odd nosie that fades. Almost like the sound a tuning fork makes.

Good day RobWG. I have multiple tones too and our symptoms seem similar. A constant high pitch scream and an intermittent midrange drone in my left ear. I also get different tones intermittently in my right ear. Sometimes the drone is accompanied by a low pitch "thumbing". These phases are the most distracting.

How I wish for a day of silence, or at least quietness.

I hope your symptoms reduce soon.

yes I get the low sound you describe. Fan oven or going through a tunnel. I am beginning to forget about it more now , but bothers me if I feel stressed about something.

Hi , I get high pitch in both ears with a loud roar, like a generator and now as an early Christmas present I have what sounds like a fog horn in my right ear!

Happy Christmas everyone , take care x

Yep

Hyperacusis high pitched constant sound around 9KHz and a low pitch hum somatic tinnitus, often intermittent, both in left ear. only. I can stop the low hum by swimming. Each swim stops it for about 36 hours.

At night time I also use masking sounds for the low hum when needed but the high pitched sound is virtually impossible to mask due to the frequency, however you can blend the high frequency sound with other lower pitched sounds so that it becomes lost or use a distinctive alternative sound to take your attention away from it, such as crickets. I find the high pitched sound easier to live with generally as the volume is lower and less intrusive. I use blue tooth ear buds for masking sounds at night because you actually cannot feel them in your ear after a while.

You ideally also need to identify the the type of low sound Tinnitus you have, as somatic T does have some treatment options.

I am currently trialing supplementary oxygen intake with neck and cardiovascular exercises to see if I can mimic the benefits derived from swimming, without getting wet.

Happy Christmas.

Yes, I have 2 sounds ( or ore sometimes) . I have found that it has changed from buzzing T into a more solid tone , plus the high pitch hissing - its all more intense.

Thanks for all your reply folks, at least I'm not alone with the two sounds.

I can count at least three :)

- high pitch hissing

- single sine tone in it (but most of the time high hissing mask it)

- low pitch hissing

It's PITA, but my mind kinda gave up (I don't feel angry about it as much). Try to be positve and remember that there are more of us with different kind of "feautres" :) Best wishes in new year.

I'm sure the link below will be of interest - the video may not be comfortable listening, but seems to illustrate how we all hear different sounds. I have a high pitched and low hum - though luckily I rarely notice the low frequency hum.

I'm another. Almost always four sounds - high pitch in both ears, slightly different frequencies, a low hum in my left ear and a kind of general exterior low buzz. I also often end the day with pulsatile tinnitus. You are not alone in this.

Hi there. I have one high pitched sound and another that runs with it but seems to dip in and out. The crazy thing is if I crackle a crackly bag near my ear the whole noise just stops for a short while and that is bliss. I only have it in my left ear.

Hi FsM. The same as you. I have a high pitched whistle .. and more recently I feel as if I'm stood in a windy tunnel all the time. It's a challenge 🙃

I have two pitches - a hiss (lower tone) and (higher tone) hiss. Or thats how I sense it anyway.
