Has anyone used these and what is the verdict? Are better for some types of tinnitus but no so for others?

Hello I recommend ACS moulded plugs they are excellent

I have 10 decibel 17 and 26…..

They have filters in….. so you can alter to any sound environments without cutting sound out completely….

I had my moulds made at boots chemist and then they sent them away to ACS and I received them two weeks later….

They are expensive but worth it….

You can read up on it on website

Hi I tried them no difference at all - to be honest when you look at them it’s pretty obvious that they won’t do much as all they do is narrow the ear canal a little and don’t see how that’s helps tinnitus?. I think they have excellent marketing but little else. If you want to protect your ears then as Eleanor suggests ACS is the way to go - try the total block solid plugs for the most protection - approx minus 32 dB. I use these in very noisy situations like DIY etc

I use mine to desensitise I had tinnitus for 26 years and I habituated however after surgery six months ago it magnified and brought with it hyperacusis

So some sounds bug me….

However sound therapy etc and plugs it will take time but I will get there….

I got the17s ACS first and then ordered the others…. I didn’t just order the filters I ordered separate plugs directly from the company as they keep your moulds there for a while…. The filters I thought were too fiddly, and I just wanted something quick….

But they area must

My old moulded plugs were made 26 years ago lol but I still used them before this….

Made by the NHS …..

In fairness to Flare Audio, these products are marketed towards people with hyperacusis in the main - any association with tinnitus improvement was after the fact and not something the product was intended to address.

The usage case histories on Flare Audio's website are all in the sound sensitivity camp, so tinnitus isn't the main focus of their outreach efforts.

My T is most likely due to surgery. It was a physio that suggested Flare as I have become very sensitive to noise and have the loudest 5 & 6 year olds on the planet. I will have the hearing aids (the free ones) fitted in a few months.

I guess this is what I am trying to ease the sensitivity to noise brought on by T. I have been engaged with Neuromod in recent weeks regarding Lenire treatment but I want try all the more affordable options first.

I bought them about 10 months ago and they did absolutely nothing for me. I have pulsatile Tinnitus though, not regular tinnitus.

Ihave just ordered a a pair of flare audio calmer - as i have sound sensitivity and reactive tinnitus ( which goes up with certain high freq sounds)so they may be helpful for me as i have to limit sounds with my tinnitus

Got the flare ear plugs. Hard to know the impact, if any. Certainly nothing on the tinnitus front, noise sensitivity maybe a little better. The insert is a bit small on one ear and seems to go into ear canal a bit.

i tried these today - these helped me - i noticed when speaking to people on mobile i can now hear what they are saying - this will help me as i have reactive tinnitus - so i have to cut noise out to a certain extent

Any improvement is welcome isn't it.

they work for me but then i have a rare tinnitus - reactive which affects just 5 % (or less0 of tinnitus sufferers

I am finding these are helping my tinnitus as they cut out higher frequencies which my tinnitus reacts to and goes up - but i think i may have 2 types of T - the Reactive T as well as some Hearing loss T - its difficult coz sound enrichment is good for hearing loss T and then on the other hand certain sounds and noise tends to push up the (rarer) Reactive T - i am hoping to habituate without hearing aids
